Description
The Sierra (Scomberomorus sierra) is a coastal pelagic fish known for its speed, agility, and predatory nature. Its elongated and highly hydrodynamic body is designed for hunting in the open sea, allowing it to execute rapid and precise attacks on schools of fish.

It inhabits the Eastern Pacific, from California to Chile, moving along the coast according to water temperature, food availability, and its reproductive cycles. It is commonly found forming schools that hunt in a coordinated manner, feeding primarily on small fish and squid.

Its seasonal migratory behavior—moving south in summer and north in winter—reflects its close relationship with oceanographic conditions. As a predator, it occupies a key position in the food web, regulating populations of smaller species.
